Client Operations, Portfolio Associate

Summary: Portfolio Associates on the Client Operations team are responsible for administering over 2,000 separately managed institutional and private client accounts. This includes analyzing investment themes and issues in order to effectively input trade activity and monitor cash levels as well as researching and resolving account and operational discrepancies. PAs interact with several internal groups including Portfolio Managers (“PM”), Client Service PAs, Compliance, Marketing, Performance Analytics, and other operational groups. There is also a substantial amount of contact with over 50 external custodians relating to account reconciliation and operational issues.  

Duties & Responsibilities:   
This individual will be responsible for the operational functions of institutional and individual client portfolios including: trading activity, monitoring cash, recording account activity, monitoring compliance rules, account reconciliations, and client reporting.Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  
• Prepare and input trades and trading programs 
• Monitor account restrictions and investment guidelines to ensure tax lot/cost issues are handled accurately 
• Actively cross train on accounts to provide backup coverage for all team members 
• Update existing, and create new operational procedures and workflow documentation 
• Actively participate in departmental projects and initiatives, occasionally acting as the lead person

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field 
• Minimum of 2-5 years of investment industry experience, preferably in portfolio administration for an investment firm, bank or trust company 
• Excellent attention to detail, an exceptionally high degree of initiative and adaptability, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks 
• The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment 
• The ability to work with numerous and conflicting deadlines with frequent interruptions 
• The ability to perform a wide variety of complex and confidential tasks with speed and accuracy 
• Strong analytical skills are needed in order to solve operational problems 
• Must be able to exercise independent judgment 
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills and the ability to communicate constructively within the department and the firm 
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS Outlook 
• Knowledge of investment products, services and terminology 
• Experience with trade order management systems (Charles River) 
• Experience with portfolio accounting systems (Advent) 
• Experience with Salesforce
